Please join us on Tuesday, January 21st in the Field Library at 6:15pm to discuss the Be Smart Campaign.  This 20 minute presentation addresses simple solutions that adults can take to reduce child gun deaths through responsible gun storage and by learning how to talk to kids about guns.  Every year 260 children age 17 and under gain access to a gun and unintentionally shoot themselves or someone else. We know the majority of guns that minors use in school shootings come from their home or the home of family or friends.  Let's engage in conversation about guns, safety and kids.  Here is the website for more information.

Field will have an Eat and Earn at Currito on January 22. Please show this flyer to earn Field 20% off your purchase.

Currito Eat and Earn

Field School is hosting a book drive! From January 27 - February 14th, we will be collecting gently used books for Bernie’s Book Bank. The collection will take place during the One School One Book event and end on Kindness Day. During your Christmas “clean out” if you find gently used books that you would be willing to give away, we would love to have them donated to our upcoming book drive. It would make a big difference for children without books. For more information, please contact Ms. Rider at Thank you!

The teacher appreciation committee is looking for any holiday gifts some of us might have received that either we don’t need, don’t fit, can’t use, etc to donate for the teacher appreciation raffle in May. This is a great way to “regift” your new items for a good cause. Please bring any items to donate to the officer labeled “Puchalski PTA.” This could be anything from pjs, gift cards, candles to a coffee maker. We will take anything new. Thanks sincerely as always for your generosity.

Do you shop online through Amazon?  A great way to give back to Field PTA is to shop through Amazon Smile.  The Amazon Smile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to the charitable organization selected.  To donate to the Field PTA, go to and select Eugene Field PTA Inc as your organization.  This is a one-time step that will benefit Field School PTA.

"Monday Munchies" continues on the first Monday of the month, with PTA members stocking the teacher lounge with snacks and coffee. If you'd like to sign up to bring an item please use the link below. If you have any questions please feel free to email, text or call Mandy Puchalski at 773-319-5547 or

Do you have a free hour on Wednesday afternoons or Friday mornings every other week?  Consider being a library volunteer and help re-shelve returned books.  We need a regular volunteer to come in every other Wednesday afternoon and every other Friday morning.  Volunteers typically come in anytime between 8:15 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. for morning slots and between 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. for afternoon slots to re-shelve books for one hour.  It’s a pretty easy volunteer job and Mrs. Talbot and Mrs. Ishida will show you where the books go.  Plus, you might get to see your kids!  If you are interested, please contact Kristin Sokol –

Want to get even more involved at Field? We still need chairpersons for the following committees. Any of these can be done with a co-chair!

  • Fifth Grade Performance - Oversees and manages the end of the year fifth grade performance.
  • Junior Great Books - Organizes and communicates with the JGB leaders for each grade.
  • Field Follies - Oversees the planning committee for the PTA adults-only fundraiser in the spring.

Please email Katharine Wagner, , if you're interested or have questions about what any of these roles entail. Thank you!

Go Field Falcons!
