Heidi Thomas

Dear Field Families,

We have had an excellent start to the 2019-2020 school year at Field! I have really enjoyed seeing the excited faces in all of our classrooms. We welcomed 389 students to Field this year. Mrs. DeLaRosa and I could feel the energy in the building as we made our way into each of our classrooms. Students spent time this week building a community in their classrooms through activities planned for getting to know each other, collaboration and creativity. We continue to foster a growth mindset in our students.

Important Upcoming Dates: Please be sure to download the D205 calendar with holidays, late arrivals, etc.

PushCoin Replaces MySchoolBucks - Beginning July 29, 2019, Elmhurst District 205 began to use a new online payment system called PushCoin. Parents and guardians of D205 students will be able to fund their students’ lunch accounts using PushCoin’s easy to use, mobile friendly site.

MySchoolBucks, the application previously used to fund lunch accounts, is now closed to accommodate the migration to the new system. However, please know that all remaining balances and prior debt from D205’s legacy payment system, will be transferred to PushCoin.

Field School Information & Reminders

Volunteers and Visitors to Field - All visitors to Field must enter through the middle doors of the school. Once buzzed into the building, visitors need to provide a state issued ID to the secretaries. Once cleared for building access, all visitors will receive a badge which must be worn during the visit, and then returned to the office upon the visitor’s exit of the building. This process helps provide a more secure environment for our students. Please plan time accordingly when attending a class program where many parents will be in attendance. On occasion, when extremely large crowds are expected, we will utilize an alternative process that will be communicated in advance.

Morning Line-Up – following the first day of school, students will be lining up each morning inside the building.  Students should not arrive earlier than 8:00 AM as there is no supervision prior to 8:00. Doors will open at 8:00am and adult supervision will begin.  When students enter the building, they will line up in the hallway (K,1,2) and auditorium (3,4,5). They will have time to put things away in their lockers and get organized for a positive start to the day.

Arrival and Drop-off Procedures - AM Drop off and PM Pickup – YOUR HELP IS NEEDED AND APPRECIATED – The safety of every student is very important to me and I genuinely need everyone’s support and help to keep our students safe. If it is possible for your family to walk to school, please do so when you are able. This lightens up the congestion and tends to be the least stressful mode of travel.

For parents that drive, please follow these important guidelines: Parents must remain in their cars and children should be ready to exit as soon as the car stops.  Children should exit only at the sidewalk area. Please do not double park to drop off your children. Please abide by the signs in front of the building. Remain in your car at all times. There is no parking in front of the building from 7:45 to 8:15 AM and again from 2:45 to 3:15 PM.  Make sure students arrive in plenty of time so they do not feel rushed or worry about being late. When picking up students, please circle the block until there is a place to pull up next to the curb. Do not enter the parking lot and never park in front of the parking lot driveway to wait for students.  If you must park, please do so on Emroy, south of the parking lot driveway or on the south side of Melrose. Load children as quickly as possible and pull out to allow the next family to pick up their child. Also, inform anyone who may be dropping off or picking up your child of these rules. At all times, please be patient and courteous. When one or two parents do not follow the system it slows down the entire process so please follow the steps above.
