Enjoy the long holiday weekend!  There is no school tomorrow, Monday January 16,  in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and no school on Tuesday January 17 for Teacher Institute Day.

THANK YOU's
Please share in my appreciation to:
•Shelly Nicholson and the Hands On Committee for planning the Feed Your Starving Children event last Friday. This was such a great experience for the kids to package food ingredients that are being sent to Africa for malnourished children.  Thank you to Ms. Baxter and Ms. Salaman as well as all of the Field families for volunteering to do such impactful work!  See attached picture that lists this amazing work that was done: 159 boxes packaged which is 34,444 meals that will feed 94 children for a year!
•Instructional Coach Katie Murphy for being a guest speaker at last week's Field PTA meeting.  Ms. Murphy shared about what her role entails and answered questions from the group.  Ms. Murphy will also be at next month's PTA meeting (2/14/17 @ 1:45pm) to share a brief presentation and answer questions from parents who were not able to attend last week.

WINTER CARNIVAL = WINTER WONDERFEST
Saturday, January 28 (2-5pm)
The kids have spoken......our upcoming Winter Carnival will go back to its prior name of Winter Wonderfest! The fun and games and prizes will all remain the same though!

Pre-orders have begun for Winter Wonderfest wristbands and raffle tickets.  See attached flyer and be sure to submit form with payment by Thursday, January 19, in order to take advantage of the special offer: $12 wristband pre-order versus $15 at the door, and 25 raffle tickets for $20 (tickets are $1 each at event).

FIELD PTA MEETING THIS TUESDAY
Tuesday, January 10 (7pm)
Don't forget about our next Field PTA meeting this Tuesday in the library.  Field's instructional coach Katie Murphy will be our guest speaker.

"FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN" VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
Friday, January 13th (8 - 9:30 pm)
1072 National Parkway, Schaumburg
Plan to join other Field families when we volunteer to pack nutritious meals at Feed My Starving Children in Schaumburg.  Students must be signed up with an adult.  To sign up, click on the following link: http://volunteer.fmsc.org/ Register/Group/JoinGroup.aspx? gid=1006200
PLEASE SIGN UP BY WEDNESDAY 1/11 so that any extra slots can be released back to FMSC for the general public to maximize the chance that they get all the volunteer slots filled.
We already have 26 reservations for this Friday's Feed My Starving Children event. The Field community will be loud and proud as we pack nutritious food for those less fortunate.  We still have room for 24 more in our group (adults, Field students, family members, friends).  If you have never done this, feel free to e-mail Shelly Nicholson to ask questions (snichol33@hotmail.com).  Or for more information about FMSC, visit their website:
https://www.fmsc.org/about-us

PBIS STORE DONATIONS
If you ended up up with any gift duplicates or just gifts you want to pass on, consider donating them for the PBIS Store.  The table for bigger items was looking a little slim, especially boy items!  Donations can be brought to the Office.

WINTER CARNIVAL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Soon it will be time for our exciting and fun Winter Carnival! Mark your calendar for Saturday, January 28 from 2-5pm.  This is a family fun day at Field with games, prizes, and raffles.  But we can't pull this event off without a lot of help, so please click on the link below and sign up to volunteer:

FIELD FOLLIES SILENT AUCTION ITEMS NEEDED
We're in the midst of planning our first ever kid-free fundraiser on April 8th! Enjoy a night with other Field parents while raising money for the school at Field Follies - a comedy show featuring Emmy award-winning comedian, Pat McGann. Stay tuned for details and location announcement this month!
In the meantime, we are actively seeking items for the silent auction. Please contact Sue Lisowski at  smlisowski@comcast.net if you have something you'd like to donate. Not sure what you could offer? There's no better time than the holidays to see if your friends or family have anything to donate (or at least brainstorm) with you.  Examples of great items include:
•Travel (airline miles, hotel or timeshare stays, pet sitting, gas cards/gas for a year)
•Experiences (private parties, wine/beer tasting, cooking lessons, private chef for in-home dinner)
•Entertainment (tickets to music events, shows, theme parks, babysitting, wine subscriptions, gift cards to restaurants, movies, etc.)
•Sports/Fitness (tickets to sporting events, memorabilia, mountain passes/skiing lessons, personal training, yoga/pilates classes, pool passes
•Subscriptions (Netflix, Stichfix, KiwiCrate, wine/flower/fruit of the month club, meal services, etc.)
•Education/Activities (tutoring, ride to/from school in a fire truck, insider tour of local businesses, month of any type of lessons--piano, swim, jiu-jitsu, hockey, etc.)
•Medical (orthodontist work, teeth whitening service, dermatology treatments, massage therapy, chiropractic services, etc.)
•Services (photo shoot, yard work/landscaping, home repair/renovation/handyman, snow removal, personal stylist/closet evaluation, etc.)
•Bottles of wine or spirits to contribute to our "wine & spirits pull" at the event.  For bottle donations please contact Carrie Martin at cjmartin04@hotmail.com
