It’s time to get your act together! On Thursday, May 19th you will have the opportunity to show Field School all the talent you got! Can you sing, dance, play an instrument, spin a basketball on your head, tell jokes, jump rope or recite a poem? This is YOUR grand finale. It’s time to start talking to your friends and classmates about what you think your 5th grade performance should be.
Summary of Important Information:
* The 5th Grade Performance will take place on Thursday, May 19th at 7 PM.
* Every 5th grader is expected to participate in an act OR as part of the stage crew.
* Each student may be in only one act.
* Act duration should be approximately 2-3 minutes.
* An Act Participation Form must be submitted for each student participating.
* Each act must have a parent supervisor.
* Act Participation Forms are due Friday, March 11th.
* Act requests will be reviewed by a committee and students will be notified by Friday, March 18th if their act is approved.
* Rehearsals will begin during lunch hour the week of April 4th.
Hello Field Families!
I want to give a huge thanks to Wendee Reedy and Leslie Van Meir for spearheading the amazing Winter Carnival that took place on Saturday!! Their passion and dedication to the Carnival was definitely present throughout the entire afternoon! It was a great success!!
This event once again proved that Field families are awesome! Thank you to EVERYONE who gave their time, spent money, and had fun!
A few things to note:
* If you won a silent auction and haven't paid yet, you should have been contacted by Leslie and need to arrange a swap for your items with her.
* If you won a priority seating raffle, you'll be contacted this week on how the process works.
* If you won a teacher raffle, the teachers will be informed on Monday of the winners and should follow up with you by the end of the week to set up parties or delivery of goods.
* If you won a raffle basket or golden raffle or Bulls - congratulations!! You may have been called to pick up your items from the office. Please do so in a timely fashion.
* One of the raffles pulled was the name of Steph Swanson, but no phone number or address was given and we can't find this person in the PTA directory. If you know this person, please let Leslie know ASAP, or we will draw a new winner on Wednesday.
Two opportunities still exist:
* Silent Auction item A3 is still available for purchase. It includes a month family membership to True Prodigy and a $25 Marianos gift card. Lowest offer is $75. I can tell you that the owner and coach of True Prodigy is one of the BEST coaches I've come across. If you'd like to know more or are interested in purchasing, contact Leslie at firstname.lastname@example.org.
* Kie & Kate, Skin Deep, & Tree of Life are hosting an event for $15 and spots are still available! See description below and contact Leslie at email@example.com if interested.
Ladies Night Out
Kie & Kate Couture, Skin Deep and Tree of Life Chiropractic are hosting a party on Wednesday, March 9th and you're invited! Enjoy appetizers, drinks, and wellness tips as you shop with friends. Guests will enjoy 20% off all of their purchases at Kie & Kate AND ‘The Lifting Lounge’, a non-surgical way to tighten and tone your skin courtesy of Skin Deep. The best part is that everyone can win! A mere $15 reserves your spot.
A separate email blast will be sent later this week with all winners. Thanks again for making the event a success!
Hands On is working with Student Council on a new recycling program and will be collecting the following items for Scarce (scarceecoed.org)
- Broken crayons for the Super Crayon program, in which crayons are melted down and molded for children who have difficulty using regular crayons
- Old pens, highlighters, markers, etc. to be recycled into storage bins through Terracycle (terracycle.com)
- Any unwanted writing instruments to be redistributed to those needing school supplies
PLEASE NOTE: If you have a container that we could repurpose for this program we need them ASAP!! Something like the Market Pantry Bulk Snack containers from Target would be great, but any bulk snack or juice container could work. Student Council members will be decorating a bin for each classroom, so if you have any please let me know.

Family Arts Festival
Please save your recyclables for the Field Family Arts Festival!
The 7th Annual Field Family Arts Festival is coming Thursday, March 10th and we need your help to make one of the most popular project rooms a success. Please save non-glass recyclables to be used as a medium for many a masterpiece! Cardboard boxes, orange juice bottles, milk cartons, paper towel/toilet paper tubes, yogurt containers, tin cans - you name it, we'll take it. The recycled arts room is a student favorite so your donations will ensure that all artists have sufficient materials to work with.
All donations can be dropped off at the home of Festival Co-chair Julie Prather at 448 East Court. Please leave your items near the side door, which right next to the driveway for easy drop-off. Please direct questions to Julie at firstname.lastname@example.org
Are you a Graphic Artist?
The Family Arts Festival committee would also be grateful for the help of a Field parent with graphic arts experience. The time commitment should be minimal as we are seeking to have existing documents altered for the upcoming festival. If you can lend a hand, please contact Julie Prather at email@example.com.

Happy New Year!
I wanted to share the exciting news that Field School submitted 44 entrees for the program, 19 advanced to the District level and 10 advanced to the Regional level. The Regional level judging is underway and I anticipate hearing who is advancing to the State level this month.
The Dupage East Region will be having a celebration for all entrees that advanced to that level. I will share more information with the artists as I receive it. I will be preparing certificates for those that participated and special ribbons/awards for those that advanced to the various levels. I'd like to have a celebration breakfast similar to last years at the appropriate time. I also will reach out to Ms. Neigel to see if there is any place we can post all of the entrees for viewing. Might be nice for the students to have their entrees viewed by the school. The Regional Chairperson is still trying to work with Yorktown Mall to have the entrees reaching Regional level displayed for others to view.
Can you please share congratulations in our weekly PTA email and can we get the names posted on our Reflections webpage? Maybe we can post the lists below on the webpage. I do have some photos of the entrees advancing to the Regional level....do you think it would be good to post those on the webpage? I attached a message for the weekly email. I will reach out to Dianne for the names to be included in the daily announcements.
