One more week and it will be Spring Break! Enjoy the extra time with your family! And to make it easier with a couple of less dinners to plan, we have an Eat & Earn this week with McTeacher's Night and an Eat & Earn the week following Spring Break at Panera.....see attached flyers and info. below.
THANK YOU's
Please share in my appreciation to:
•Julie Prather and Mrs. Neigel for the INCREDIBLE job they did as co-chairs for last week's Field Family Arts Fest! Every year this gets better and better for all of the Field families to enjoy.  Thank you to the Arts Fest Committee that did such a great job helping the co-chairs plan the activities, setting up, and running everything.  This year's committee members included Mary Jenkins, Catherine Widuch, Joanna Spathis, Carrie Poulos, Jenny Koerth, Deirdre Churchill, Penelope Osio-Brown, Kelly McDermott-Goldstein, and Ann Crampton.
•In addition to the co-chairs and committee members, the Arts Fest was a hit due to the amazing volunteers that included so many Field parents, teachers, staff, and even teachers' family members including their spouses, parents, children, and aunts!  We also had middle school and high school students volunteering, which is great to see Field alumni coming back.  Thank you ALL for giving your time and ensuring the event was covered from set up to clean up!
•Additional thanks goes to the Arts Fest support from Karla Talbot, Abby Perry, Dena Vincent, Nicole Braun, Arturo Villanueva, Emily Ishida, Lois Prokosch, Ashley Skinner,Tom Walker, and the many people who donated recyclables!  And thank you to the Field students who are a part of the Trinity Irish Dance Company and did such a nice job with their performances!

CONGRATULATIONS TO....
•Ved Sule for coming in 3rd place out of 63 students for the 2nd grade level at last week's 21st Annual Student Chess Tournament!  Congratulations to all members of the Field Chess Club who participated, and a special THANK YOU to chess club chair Christiana Pascavage and parent volunteers Allison Welz, Wendee Reedy, Shelly Nicholson, and Anne Marie Fennell for their help with the Chess Club.
•Lisa McLafferty for winning the Chicago Bulls tickets in our special PTA fundraiser raffle.  THANK YOU to all who purchased raffle tickets, which raised $2500 for the Field School PTA!  And an additional thank you to the following for their help in organizing the raffle:  Heather Stotts, Lara Stavridis, and Carol Mui.
•5th graders Amelia Morrow and Alejandro Goetz for their Honorable Mention Awards in the Illinois PTA Reflections art competition.  Reflections is a national PTA arts recognition and achievement program for students. Through Reflections, students in Kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to submit works of art in six areas: dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. The theme for the 2016-17 program is “What is Your Story?”    Congratulations to Amelia for her entry of "Hearing Aids" in Literature and to Alejandro for his entry of "The Tree of Me" in Visual Arts.

Several of you have already been able to benefit from this.

LOST AND FOUND
Did you know there is a Lost and Found box at school, both in the main entrance (at the bottom of the stairs) and in the lunchroom?  Stop by sometime and dig through the ever growing pile and see if that missing glove, hat, sweatshirt, water bottle, umbrella, etc. is in there.  There are even coats, lunch bags, a kid's tie, some kids' jewelry, a pair of gym shoes and sandals in there right now!

5th Grade Parents:
Michelle and I are excited to be organizing this year’s 5th Grade Performance!  The entire school looks forward to this event – and we know our 5th graders can’t wait to demonstrate their many talents.
The 5th Grade Performance will be held at Field School in the Auditorium on Thursday, May 18th at 7PM- and there is a lot of work to do to start organizing and prepping for this event.  We visited with your kids in their class today to explain the objectives and expectations and to ask them to start considering their participation- get those creative juices flowing!
A few key points:

*  The 5th Grade Performance will take place on Thursday May 18th at 7 PM.
*  Every 5th grader is expected to participate in an act or as part of the stage crew.
*  Each student may be in only one act.
*  Act duration should be ~2-3 minutes.
*  An Act Participation Form, attached and hard copy in folders with your 5th grader, must be submitted for each student participating.
*  Act Participation Forms are due Friday, March 17th.
*  Act requests will be reviewed by a committee, students will be notified by Friday, March 24th if their act is approved.
*  Each Act must have at least 1 parent supervisor committed; this supervisor will commit to the out-of-school practices and coordinate with the 5GP committee on the acts requirements.  This parent will also ensure the act is ready for the status check points in April/May and assist at the rehearsal.
*  If you are open to volunteering to help the show, we could use you please!  Video’ing the event, managing the props/backstage, running the spotlight, watching the kids in the room the night of the program, organizing the after party, etc…please let us know by providing your name on the line provided in the form.

This is a very memorable experience for our 5th graders- and we appreciate your support as we work together to put on a great show.  Our goal is to tape the show so the kids can watch it back the next day and to also distribute copies after.
Please review the attached information and please talk to your 5th grader about their participation.

We welcome any questions.
