Hello Field Families!
The days may be long but the years are short! These weeks are just flying by!
*Thank you to Suzanne Wilcox for hosting Mom's Night Out for 5th grade! Thanks to all the moms that came out!

*Mom's Night Out - See the attached flyer for Mom's Night Out! PLEASE NOTE!!! Instead of bringing an appetizer or dessert, moms are asked to bring a bottle of wine or a Gift Card/Certificate for a local business. These items will help get a head start on donations to Field Follies! The fifth grade moms added 4 bottles of wine and $75 in gift cards towards Field Follies! The hostess is providing the refreshments for the evening! This Friday moms from 2nd and 4th grade are welcome to meet at the homes of Elena Gayan and Karen Grogan for a fun night!

*Field Gear is IN and should be going home by the end of the week! It will be distributed based on your selection at the time of purchase (either student at school or to your home). Contact Trish Poulson ( with any questions or concerns (but not if you haven't received your order by Wednesday...they will be home by the end of the week!) Thanks!

*Picture day is Friday, September 29th. Signup to help the kids get to the photographer here: sybP.

*Fundraising at Field - Here is your chance to let the PTA know what you think about fundraising at Field. Follow this link to let the PTA know!  https://www.surveymonke

*FRC (Field Running Club) for 3rd-5th graders starts Friday, September 22nd
On Thursday, September 21st, there will be a informational meeting in the auditorium for ALL 3rd graders during lunch recess from 12:05-12:15.  Any NEW 4th and 5th graders will also need to attend the informational meeting during lunch recess at 12:35.  We'll discuss rules and expectations during this time.
On Friday, September 22nd, 3rd grade runners will run during lunch recess from 12:05-12:35.  4th and 5th grade runners will run during lunch recess from 12:35-1:05.  If interested in volunteering, please use this link to do so.  Thank you in advance!
If you haven't already done so, all runners need a waiver to be filled out and turned into Audra Stanley before Friday.  (see attachment).
Hope the kids are as excited as we are!

*Our first PTA meeting of the year is on September 19th at 7pm in the Field Library. In addition to the budget, we have a lot to talk about! Please join us on Tuesday! Don't worry about staying out too late, Wednesday is a Late Start!

*HURRICANE HARVEY FUNDRAISER – Our three middle school student councils are fundraising to support the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Nearly 50 Houston Independent School District (HISD) schools have been flooded to some degree, other schools are being used as shelters, and a growing number of students and families have left their homes behind.
There are three ways you can help students in Houston:
1. HISD has an immediate need for children’s clothes of all sizes (clean and in reasonably good repair) and school supplies. Please bring donations to Sandburg and well will send them to Houston for you. If you prefer to send items directly, they can be forwarded them to:  HISD Harvey Recovery, ? Delman Stadium, 2020 Mangum, Houston, TX 77092
2. Drop off a monetary donation of any amount and we will forward funds to the Houston Independent School District Foundation.
3. The HISD Foundation has set up a special to provide assistance to their students and families. Click here to read more about their effort and make an online donation.
Thank you for partnering with us. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Lisa Kerins ( or Eric Gorton (

*Field School Directory Update ~ DirectorySpot App - Directory Spot is up to date and ready for this school year. Each user has the ability to edit their own information within the app. We just ask that if you are making changes in the app, you also contact the district to have your information updated there as well.
If you have any questions, please contact Sarah Jensen at or at 312-451-6230.

*Library volunteers are needed! The Field Library is off and running with the new year. Students borrowed over 1,000 books the first week and we are 'flooded" with returned books. We would appreciate any time that you can stop by and help re-shelf books. Based on the circulation the first week of school, Tuesday and Thursday are the busy days. Please see the GoogleSheet to chart when you are able to help. You should be able to access and edit the document. Please consider giving a little bit of time! spreadsheets/d/1FGqOslwcTH4_n3 f91QowweR4V7mh857VpP1stt5SzWU/ edit?usp=sharing.

*Lunch Supervisors Needed – Field is in need of daily lunchroom supervisors. The hours are from 11:15 to 1:15 each day. If you are interested, or know of someone interested, please see our district website under employment opportunities!

*Buddy bench update - while parents were weeding, spreading mulch, and stenciling the playground at school a few weeks ago, it was noted that the buddy bench had broken. It was not reparable so it had to be removed. The plaque that was on the bench was saved. The PTA is looking at options for possibly replacing the bench. We will update this, probably after the first PTA meeting on September 19th.

*PLAN TO ATTEND THE STATE OF THE SCHOOLS ADDRESS – Please plan to join us on Monday, September 18 at 7 PM in the York High School Commons, when Superintendent Dr. David Moyer will present his State of the Schools address. Come join us as we celebrate student and staff achievements, share our District goals for 2017-18 and talk about plans for Focus 205 Phase II.

*Exhibition Basketball with the Harlem Wizards - The Harlem Wizards are back in Elmhurst on Saturday, September 30th to entertain the crowd with high-energy exhibition play and audience participation. Cheer on our team of Elmhurst school district principals and teachers as they challenge the Wizards in a basketball game that is sure to include wild antics and lots of laughs. The event will be held at York High School beginning at 5:00 PM. Concessions, merchandise and raffle tickets will be available for purchase. Proceeds from this family-friendly fundraiser support District 205 Foundation programs and enhancements that benefit all Elmhurst public school students. Click here to learn more and guarantee a seat at this popular Saturday event. Our very own Social Worker, Nicole Salaman will be representing Field on the court!

Field School Directory Update ~ DirectorySpot App - Our Field DirectorySpot app is now up and running for current paid PTA members.  You will have access to our Field School Directory right from your smartphone and it will always be updated with the latest information!  The app will contain parent names, phone numbers, home addresses, parent email addresses and student names, grade levels and teachers.  The app is very secure and only PTA members (parents and staff) of Field School will be granted access.  Remember, the only way to get access to the Directory Spot app is with a PTA membership.  There is still time to sign up if you have not yet done so, just return the attached registration form with cash or check or sign up online at https://elmhurstpare  Once we receive your payment and information, you will have access to the app.

All NEW users to the directory should have received an email from DirectorySpot containing instructions on how to download and activate the app.  If you were a DirectorySpot user last year, then you don't need to do anything.  Just login as usual and you will see the new data.  Please see the attached document for more detailed information.

The app is now updated to reflect Ms. Kalisnky's am and pm classes. Thank you for your patience.

If you have any questions, or need to make any corrections to the information, please contact Sarah Jensen at or at 312-451-6230.

Mom's Night Out was launched in 2009 as a chance for Field Moms to meet and get to know one another in a casual, social setting. It was a huge success, offering numerous connection opportunities within the Field School community. By collecting a $10 donation, we raise enough money to reduce other 'sales calls' throughout the year.

This year, instead of bringing an appetizer or dessert, moms are asked to bring a bottle of wine or a Gift Card/Certificate for a local business. These items will help get a head start on donations to Field Follies! The third grade moms collected 15 bottles of wine, $115 in gift cards/certificates, and have $150 in cash going to the PTA. The hostess is providing the refreshments for the evening! This Friday moms from 5th grade are welcome to meet at the home of Suzanne Wilcox for a fun night!

A HUGE thank you to all of the 2017 Fall Mom's Night Out hostesses!
