Field Falcon Newsletter - 1/11/19

Dear Falcon Families,

This first week back has flown by. I hope everyone had a wonderful winter break. Our students are getting back into the routine and adjusting to the schedule. I am sure there may have been some early bedtimes this week! I know there was a need in the Thomas household.

Assessment – The winter benchmarking window for Fountas & Pinnell has opened. Teachers have been using the Fountas & Pinnell assessment to gather information on student growth in the area of reading. This assessment was given in the fall and will be administered in the spring as well. It is a tool that allows for teachers to see strengths and areas of growth for students in the area of reading, and support instructional planning. ACCESS testing for our EL students will begin next week as well.

REACH Identification Families of students in second and fifth grades who are identified to start REACH in the 2019-20 school year (in third and sixth grades) will receive notification letters via SchoolMessenger on February 1. REACH identification notices will be sent only to families who have students that have been identified for REACH programming on February 1. The online application for appeal will be published on the District website on January 15. The application deadline is February 15. Students currently in grades 3-7 may apply; appeal testing will take place the week of March 4.

5Essentials Survey We currently have response information from only 11 percent of our parent group and need at least 20 percent of parents to respond in order for this to be reported on Field’s State Report Card. The statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey is still open for parents to share their thoughts about the experiences with our school. This survey provides critical input to help develop school improvement plans. The survey takes about 10 minutes. Your identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child. If you completed this survey at Field during conferences at the kiosk, you do not need to complete it again. To take the parent survey please click here and select the parent survey link. You will need to enter the county (DuPage) and school name (Field). A link is also provided on the Elmhurst District 205 website. I hope you will participate.
