Field Elementary School

Falcon Newsletter - 11/2/18

Dear Falcon Families,

It was wonderful to see so many of you last Friday at Field’s Fall Fest. It was such an outstanding event hosted by the Field PTA. I want to extend a very special thank you to Lisa McCloskey, the Fall Fest committee and everyone who volunteered their time and donated resources to make the night so special!

I also want to thank the parent volunteers that worked to set up, sell items and pack up the PBIS Feather Store today. I hope your kids have come home sharing all the exciting things they are doing in their classrooms as well as the school wide events. Today was very busy with students shopping at the PBIS Feather Store, participating in Running Club and attending the Wizards assembly to build excitement for the basketball game at York High School tomorrow. Tickets for the game will be sold at the door based upon availability. This is a laugh out loud family friendly event that is sure to entertain as the D205 All-Stars take on the Harlem Wizards. Field will be represented by Mr. Kolb (PE Teacher) and Ms. Salaman (Social Worker). Please visit for the full team roster, details and tickets.

If you are not already following our Field Instagram and are looking for a way to be more connected to day-to-day school happenings, I encourage you to follow us @FieldD205. You can also search Field205 on Instagram to find many of our classroom teachers.

Parent/Teacher Conferences All parents of elementary school students are invited to attend Parent/Teacher Conferences. In order to sign up for a conference, parents who haven't already created a PowerSchool Single Sign-on (SSO) Account need to do so no later than Sunday, November 4 at 6:00 AM.

Conference sign up begins at 6:00 AM on November 5 and closes at midnight on November 9. When the sign-up portal opens, log in to PowerSchool and you will see a Parent/Teacher Conference sign-up link adjacent to your child’s photo. Click the sign-up link and you will be able to schedule conferences for all elementary school students in your family. Be sure to sign up for a conference with your child’s classroom teacher and REACH Teacher (Mrs. Rider). Parents will also have an option to sign up for a 10-minute conference with our building Specials teachers (Art, Music, PE, Spanish and the Librarian) if you are interested. These additional conferences are optional.

Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place on November 19 (4:30 to 8:00 PM) and November 20 (10:00 AM to 6:00 PM). There will be no school for elementary students on Tuesday, November 20.

UCCA Holiday Food Drive Until November 16 Field families are invited to help fill holiday food boxes by donating food items to their classrooms through November 16. We are having a friendly competition at Field and the winning classroom will earn a STEM activity with Mrs. Thomas and Ms. Murphy. The donations will be picked up from Field and moved to the Elmhurst Public Works Garage where they will be sorted and boxed for distribution in December. There are also collection bins at the Elmhurst Public Library, the YMCA and Park District locations until November 25.

PTA Reflections Art Program Get Creative! Calling all Field students! It’s time to get your creative juices flowing for the annual PTA Reflections Arts Program. This year’s theme is “Heroes Around Me”. Students are invited to create works of art that reflect the theme in any of six different categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. Select projects will be eligible to advance through council, district, region, state and national levels of the program. Projects are due to the front office on November 14. Visit Field’s Reflections web page for more information.
